...because life happens
“If you look for TRUTH, you may find COMFORT
If you look for COMFORT, you may never find the TRUTH”
Welcome to Therapy4Solace
My name is Zahida Abbas, and I am a psychotherapist and trauma therapist in Rochdale and online with over two decades of experience in supporting people of all backgrounds receive the professional help they need.
I understand that reaching out for help can be daunting, but I am here to give you a safe, friendly and a strictly confidential space, where you will be truly heard, not just listened to, and guided on your journey towards a better emotional place in your life. Whether you require help for depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, bereavement, childhood issues, oncology support, or some other emotional issue, I help you work through it with compassion, vision, understanding, and relentless enthusiasm.
Sessions are available in Urdu and Punjabi, with easy access for those in Oldham, Bury, and the wider Greater Manchester area, as well as online for a wider clientele. As a psychotherapist and trauma therapist in Rochdale and online with a South Asian background, I always take care to provide an affirmative, intersectional approach that places your particular background at the heart of our work together. Feel free to get in touch at any time to find out more.
I am a holistic integrative talking therapist, which means we look at all aspects of your emotional and spiritual life ahead of deciding on a particular kind of therapy that suits your needs. Depending on your situation, I can draw from a variety of different approaches, which include:
EMDR
Hypnotherapy
Psychotherapy
Relational Therapy
Solution-Focused Therapy
Brain Spotting Technique
Counselling
Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy can also be offered as part of my service, with me blending a range of natural products to suit your particular issue. I can blend for stress relief, aches and pains, panic etc. I believe therapy is more effective when the soul and body are supported as well as the mind.
For more information on the above therapeutic techniques, head over to my Types of Therapies page. I often work with members of the UK Blue Light Personnel Inclusive of Police Officers, Royal College of Nurses and Paramedics, as well as young people from age 11 upwards.
Some of the area I have experience in working with include but are not limited to:
Depression
Anxiety
Oncology Support
Relationships
Bullying at Work
Abuse
Rape
Suicidal Ideation
Young People
Low Self-Esteem
Want to know a bit more about how I can help you with the above issues? If so, take a look at my Areas I Work With page for a full list.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about how counselling works, or to arrange an initial assessment appointment. This enables us to discuss the reasons you are thinking of coming to counselling, whether it could be helpful for you and whether I am the right therapist to help.
You can also call me on 07779286083 if you would prefer to leave a message or speak to me first. I am happy to discuss any queries or questions you may have prior to arranging an initial appointment.
Initial Consultation
Making sure you feel comfortable is my main priority, so you are always free to give me a call for a 15-minute free consultation session. Please don’t hesitate to share your concerns or ask any questions during this chat. Therapy, after all, is a two-way process, and the more you put into it, the more you get out. I will also walk you through what to expect from our sessions together and, if you wish, provide you with a copy of the Ethical Principles on which my practice is built ahead of scheduling your first assessment session. This assessment session involves us looking at your history and broader emotional/spiritual life in order to gain a full picture of your situation and make sure you receive the right kind of therapy.
EAP
Along with working as a psychotherapist and trauma therapist in Rochdale and online, I offer Employee Assistance Programmes to corporate organisations and Critical Incident Support (fire and rescue, paramedics, police etc.). Paid for by the employer, these sessions are available for a group of employees that have experienced the same trauma at work, ie Manchester Arena Bombing. Group therapy is also available, as well as one-off critical incident support for those who are suffering with a recent trauma.
Supervision
I offer counselling supervision to BSc and MSc students, along with clinical supervision to both trainee therapists and experienced practitioners alike, creating a friendly, supportive atmosphere that energises and stimulates your continued growth. Group supervision can also be facilitated in a number of different settings. This is a chance for you to show curiosity, be challenged, evolve, and be supported, exploring the occasionally complex overlapping challenges in the counselling and supervisory relationships.
I work from a private purpose-built extension in my own Rochdale home, giving you a completely secluded, peaceful space in which to receive personalised support. This has been my base for nearly 10 years, and clients immediately feel at ease here. There is disability access, plenty of parking, a dedicated private entrance, as well as a selection of lovely herbal teas for you to choose from.
To learn a bit more about my background as a psychotherapist and trauma therapist in Rochdale and online, please head to my About Me page.
All sessions are 50 minutes long, with pricing determined on a sliding scale. Feel free to give me a call to find out more. I offer weekly sessions and work flexibly around your needs, with availability on weekends and evenings.
Payment can be made by bank transfer or cash. I would require 24 hours’ notice for any cancellations or rescheduling of appointments, otherwise missed sessions will need to be paid for in full.
